How Do We Hear God in the Noise of Our
Lives?
Every Monday evening at 6:30 p.m. an opportunity is available for ANY interested women to join us in prayer and bible study led by Lois Short. I’m here to say that GOD SHOWS UP every week….and ladies the time is sweet! The past few weeks we have been experiencing an exercise of ‘waiting and listening’ for God to speak.. To listen for His voice with words of encouragement for those who attend regularly. Many of us have been blessed by what we have heard.
Last week as I was traveling to a morning radiation treatment I had been listening to The Message on Sirius radio. Here I was singing along with some of the songs… and just spending some Me and God time. Praying to hear God speak just the words He wanted me to share with this weeks’ chosen one. In between songs a statement was made that went like this----How do we hear God in the noise of our lives? That was quite a statement. I had to fumble around for a piece of paper to jot that down. I had just finished a Hardee’s biscuit, so I tore off the corner of the sack and made my note. True story!
“Listening is the first step toward hearing”. We are encouraged to turn an ear to God and be still. He will speak and let you know that He loves and cares for you. He wants your needs to be met and to bless you abundantly. I have seen at times, that His message will come to you through others.
John 10:14 has always been a favorite verse of scripture….”I am the Good Shepherd and I know and recognize my own and My own know and recognize me”. Yes,… YOU are one of His sheep. What good news!
I challenge you to be a channel through which God will speak.. . Listen for words from Him. You can encourage someone today. You will see what a blessing it is!
Remember our example of Christ who listened and heard God speak and faced the cross. Our crosses may not be to that extreme, but nevertheless difficult and real. I can assure you, He will not only meet you at the cross, but will carry you there.. Amen
