What is faith? Christians bandy the word about easily in their vocabulary, but do we truly understand  its meaning? The Scripture says without faith it is impossible to please God (Hebrews 11:6), so I would say it is fairly important to understand. Faith is the foundation of our faith. Faith is the key that unlocks the door to God. Faith is action. Faith is a lifestyle. Faith is a choice. Faith must be "lived out" daily.

Hebrews, Chapter Eleven, is sometimes called "The Faith Chapter" or "The Roll Call of Faith." It supplies us with numerous examples of faith from the Old Testament. The men and women listed in this chapter are all unique. Through their multi-faceted approaches to God and life, we can better grasp the fundamental idea of faith and learn to "live by faith."

“I’m losing my mind!” We generally speak the phrase when the cares and stresses of the world are driving us absolutely bonkers. One particularly stressful situation or one particularly stressful person may be the culprit of our craziness. We cannot think straight. We do not feel right. We do not act right.

So, if you feel down or depressed or melancholy at times…if you feel hopeless or confused…if you find yourself thinking evil and unholy and destructive thoughts…if you live with continual anxiety or fear…if you at times make poor decisions…if you do things you really do not want to do…if you live in fear…if your beliefs do not line up with those in the Bible which causes you cognitive dissonance (stress over conflicting beliefs)…then these messages are for you.

This Sermon Series, simply titled "It's God" explores basic foundational yet deep truths about God, humankind, and the world.  It focuses upon God's design and purpose for creation and how this understanding impacts our daily lives.  The series begins at a time before the foundation of the world.  It then flows into the design and purpose for creation and builds on that understanding to see how and why God interacts with the world and humankind.  The series also seeks to answer some profound questions which will help us to see our life of faith in a new perspective.  So join us and remember, "It's God!"

A Few of the Questions We will Ponder

  • Is there any proof God created the universe?
  • Is it really important to believe God created the universe?
  • If God did create, for what purpose?
  • Who is Jesus?  Where did He come from?  Did He have anything to do with creation?  Is He man or God?  Why did Jesus come to earth?
  • Can we really know God?
  • What does it mean to be created "imago Dei" or "in the image of God?"
  • If we are created in the image of God, why is the world in such a sad shape?
  • If sin has stained our "image of God" and broken our relationship with God, is there anyway to restore it?
  • If God is so good, why is there so much suffering in the world?
  • If God is all powerful and so loving, why doesn't He help me?
  • If God is in control of the world, why is the world in such chaos?

This Sermon Series explores God's beauty, majesty, splendor, or glory.  If God is truly the most magnificent thing to behold, far beyond anything else imaginable, then we should seek God's beauty first and foremost in life with all of our hearts, souls, minds, and strength.  It should come first before anything else in our lives...if we truly believe that.  But where do we find this unmatched beauty?  God wants to reveal His glory to us every day, every minute, every moment in all we do and say in a given day...in our jobs, in our play, in our rest, in our walks, in our thoughts.  Is it possible to obtain ultimate happiness by seeking and finding God's beauty all around us?

Everyone wants to know their destiny or purpose in life.  In is comforting to know that God has a plan for each of us.  Oftentimes the problem is discovering that plan.  We all have questions, at some time or another, like "What is my purpose on earth?"  "What are my gifts or talents?"  "What doesn't God show me exactly what I am supposed to do?"  "I am not pastor or missionary.  What can I do for God's Kingdom?"  I am no extraordinary saint like those in the Bible.  Can God really use me?"  "How do I discover God's plan for my life?"  Questions similar to these (and more) are answered in this series.  And, as always, the pastor attempts to answer these questions through several examples, some modern and some Biblical, in as simple and clear approach as possible.
