Why is it Important to Believe in Creation?
Some might argue, “Why does it matter so much to believe that God created the world?” In past years, I might be more inclined to agree with this type of reasoning. Why does it matter how the universe came into existence? I mean, if we believe in Christ for salvation, do we really need to know much more?
The answer is “yes” because to know Christ is to know God and vice versa. You see, we have proven through Scriptures that the world was made through Christ. John 1:3 “All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made.”
If we do not truly believe and accept as truth the fact that God created the world, then our other options for any purpose to life are dismal, bleak, depressing, and utterly hopeless. The only other option, other than a Divine Creator, is some sort of “fate” or chance,” which to me is a ridiculous, nonsensical postulation for the creation of the world. Nonetheless, in humankind’s attempt to abolish God completely from our lives, this is oftentimes the “other” option.
A belief in chance or fate, which is likewise based upon faith since it cannot be proven, leads the world into a completely different set of guiding principles. Briefly ponder the notion with me; we are here by chance. There is no “higher power” watching us. There is no final judgment. There is no afterlife, so it is “each man for himself” in an attempt to get as much as possible out of this life for ourselves before we leave the earth. It is “dog eat dog.” There are no absolutes. There is no real truth. Each life is actually nearly worthless since nothing matters. It is “Que Sera, Sera” or “whatever will be, will be.” Any moral or value or lack thereof is each person’s prerogative. One person’s beliefs are as valid as any other…because there is no one right truth…because there is no God to explain what this truth might be. Sound eerily like the world in which we live?
Without a God it is “each to his own,” which is really scary. Who determines what is right and wrong? “Who are you to tell me this is wrong!” If I behead someone because they will not convert to my way of thinking, that is perfectly reasonable. After all, they had their chance. No one is right, but no one is wrong. Or maybe everyone is right, or everyone is wrong. But what happens when our views directly contradict one another? Who is to decide? There is also no real purpose in anyone’s life. Not only that, but what we do does not matter…ever…to anyone. This is the life we have been handed by the god called “fate” or “chance?” Is this what we want? It’s what we get when we discount God as the Creator.
